For anyone who is interested in LabView, here's some info for you.
I've got the Student Edition of LabView 8.2 I know, it's old, but when you're a student, you take what you get for free (it's legit, school bought it for the students).
Anyway, it claims to be incompatible with any 64-bit system. Oddly, that doesn't seem to be entirely true. It seems that their unified installer must be 16-bit. If you install each component from the CD individually (go folder by folder and use the individual installers), you can get everything to install, with maybe 2 exceptions (not important ones). You can then upgrade drivers with your account to make your devices work with a 64-bit system (support for this is very good). You don't need to restart until you get to the end of installing everything.
Only downside of this system is that it takes about 2.5 hours to do. That's for the Student Edition. I have no idea how long it would take for another one.
There is a free NI-DAQmx suite for x64, the drivers, and an MAX. This will obviously mean very little to those who do not use LabView, but could be useful to someone else.
I'm not sure, but this method might work for other software with unified installers.
