Just upped to 4GB...

Hi

I've just added another 2GB RAM to my Vista x64 machine. Is there anything in any of the settings anywhere on Vista that I should play with in order to optimise things, or should I leave that to the OS ? Running the Refresh of SP1 RC, so I assume the 4GB RAM hotfix is included...

cheers

Andrew

The Hotfix (KB 929777) applies to motherboards containing certain memory controllers and fixes an issue where the OS would blue screen on startup with an message saying "IRQL Not Equal..." So if you're not having that problem, don't worry about it.

If the OS doesnt 'see' all of the RAM, you may need to enable Memory Remapping (various names depending on the specific Bios), but besides that?? Nope, no action required.

No nasty bluescreens on startup so I guess that the hotfix does not apply :)

thanks
