Just saying thanks

Brand new to this forum, and wanted to thank the contributors that have helped me with Vista so far. I came from xp.
I'm not thrilled with Windows mail compared to Outlook Express. So many steps just to send an email.

You know, for as much as I ask for help, I usually tend to forget to thank the admins and mods of this place who put it all together for us... Huge kudos to those of you who help mere mortals like me ;) :D

I like Windows Mail. When I run it, it automatically gets mail; I find it easy to send and receive mail. I even check my yahoo mail account using Windows Mail without having to go to the Yahoo web site.

Click create, select who to send it to, enter a subject, type the message, click send. What could be easier than that?

Also, I don't have to open a new Internet explorer tab, enter a user name, enter a password, click here and there, to send mail like you would with web based systems.

I've downloaded Live and have been unable to send mail with it.
Keep getting an error message with no explanations.

Could you post a copy of the error messages that you get? One of us may know a solution for it. :)

It is not actually an error "message", but "error" shows at bottom right of monitor, and email seems to go to my hotmail account box even though I'm sending via my bellsouth.net account.

My Computer

Double click on where it says error at to open the error window. It should then give you a more detailed explanation of what it may be.

Okay... this is strange.
I sent an email to myself via Live and it arrived in Mail.
I got no error message, but....
My main reason for trying Live was that I thought it gave a list of contacts like outlook along the left side. I still have to make a few clicks to send mail. Am I doing something wrong?

I also see that there is no send/receive button on top unless I'm not seeing it?
Again, thanks for the assistance.

My Computer

In the left pane at the bottom, you will see a Contacts shortcut. You can click on it to see your contacts on the left side in a new window.

Instead of Send/Receive, it's now called Sync at the top in the toolbar. :)
