My default web browser is IE9 which i hav just downloaded from microsoft. my problem is whenever i try to download anything from web IE9 downloads it from its own download manager.
I wanna my default download manager should be IDM. so whenever i download anything from web it downoad through IDM.
I used to regularly use 4 browsers until I settled on Chromium. I spent a lot of time trying to find a free download manager that would integrate with all my browsers and run at full speed. I gave up. My compromise solution is Free Download Manager. I turn off all integration and just use the drag & drop target to start downloads.
Not smooth but runs at full speed. Only nuisance is those script links, but if I'm downloading from a throttled page I wait until I get the "if your download does not start click this direct link." I cancel the javascript download. I drag the direct link onto the target. Most often I get a full speed download or at least 5x what I would have gotten with the javascript link.
Now I actually prefer this method. I don't have to mess with settings to use a different browser. They all work the same. I guess in programming terms you could say I decoupled the download manager from the browsers. Things are much simpler that way.
