It just won't work...

Hi,

After the glorious auto update my desktop has undertaken, it no longer boots up Vista, and get stuck on the 'green scrolling bar' area...

When I try and boot up in safe mode, it only gets as far as crcdisk.sys and hangs.

I have tried downloading and running via a recovery disk, and whilst this does get a little further, it still won't get me back into the system.

Now I have reach (and breached) the limits of my knowledge, I turn to the great and the good out there to help me if you can?

I cannot entertain a system re-build as my latest back up to at least 2 months old (I know, I know...), and there are a lot of business files on my machine that I can't afford to loose!

Can anyone please help me???

Thanks...

Thanks Gary,

I have subsequently had to go for the re-build option with the assistance of both Microsoft and Dell. Both of which were surprisingly helpful!!!

Not the ideal solution, but even MS admitted that they could do nothing more, and could not explain to me as to why this had happened!

All's well that ends well, thanks for your response...
