Is Forsaken (1998) Vista compatible?

Can anybody help?
I'm trying to install Forsaken on Windows Vista 64bit and the screen just blacks out after the intro messages. It works fine on XP even though its an old game. I've tried right-clicking on the .exe files and setting compatability to Windows 95, 98 and 2000 and nothing changes.
:(I used to love this game, does anyone know how to get it working?

after it blacks out, does it crash, giving you a screen that says " X.exe has crashed, trying to find a solution?"

Put compatability settings on Windows XP SP2 (service pack 2) and try changing your graphics res because old games usually ran on 256-bit graphics ect.

Hi
Thanks for replying. No, theres no message at all, just black screen and a complete lock-up. Even after control-alt-delete to run the task manager, the cursor is frozen on screen. Changing compatability settings does no good either. Can't figure it out, it works fine on my desktop pc under XP :-(

Not sure if anyone's bothered any more but this thread helped me so I felt the need to share my results... After a bit of reminiscing with friends I decided to try and get my old copy of Forsaken working on Vista x64. Of course initially I had the crashing problems described above so I found this post courtesy of a certain ubiquitous internet search engine. :D

Anyway, long story short the reply above was almost there... The XP SP2 compability setting does indeed do the trick - just not where you might expect, i.e. the start menu shortcut; unfortunately that points at Forsaken.exe which is merely a launcher rather than the game itself. Instead, change the compatibility of ForsakenHW.exe in the installation folder; that seemed to work a treat for me! Note also that I first applied the 1.01 patch which can be found elsewhere on the interweb.

Well I hope this little tip is useful to someone. I'm off now to enjoy another trip down memory lane playing some more Forsaken; astonishingly it will even run in full HD thanks mainly to 3D technology having improved ever so slightly since 1998! ;)
