Hello everybody,

I am looking for some help for my unusual problem with vista. I have vaio with vista home premium installed on it. My laptop goes into sleep mode involuntarily, anytime while working on it. What i have observed is, this normally happens when i am trying to type on my laptop keyboard, All of sudden it goes to sleep mode and i have to press enter to get it back. The frequency of this unusual behavior has only increased by time. I have already installed the latest display drivers, I have also reset my Bios to default setting. Nothing seems to be working.

Had anybody heard or faced this kind of problem before. If so please help me out.

Thanx in advance.

Vikas

i too think i might be hitting some wrong button. I have a vaio cr series laptop purchased in canada, all my buttons have English and French alphabets on it. I am just unable to find the button assigned for SLEEP mode. If you can guide me where is this button on vaio for sleep, it might be helpful or just let me know how did u disabled it on u r system.

thanx in advance

the tutorial that BRINK put a link too should direct you to it otherwise it's in contol panel/ power options /sleep mode, on my computer it is a side option it may be different in yours however you can disable it there or if that option is not there change how the button reacts when pressed (not an option on all computers)

the key would have a primary use but may be highlited with a couple of zzz to indicate a sleep function.

your sony vaio may have onboard applications which help control these.

Vikas,

I do not know if this is the same for you exact model, but I found a keyboard layout link that may help. You might be pressing keys 9 or 10. You may also have 10 set to sleep instead of shutdown.

VAIO

This tutorial will show you how to change what action (sleep or shutdown) the case power button will do when pressed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
