Hi I'm using a Gateway running windows vista home premium and I can't connect my computer to the internet. I have my Verizon FiOS modem connected to my coaxial and the wireless portion of my intenet works (iPod touch works) but when I connect an Ethernet cable to my computer and modem on any port, it cannot connect. The computer does not have built in wireless so that is out of the question. The computer also does not recognize any network hardware and when I use the FiOS disk to set up the network it tells me to go to (on IE) 192.168.1.1 but IE tells me the adress is not valid. How can I get my comp to recognize the connection?

Go into Device manager and see if there are any yellow flags or re X's by your network hardware and post the results back here. How old is the pc? Call Gateway support if it is still under warranty.
