Internet Explorer Problems

Hi! Hoping someone has encountered my situation and can offer some help. I have Internet explorer installed on my computer with Vista Windows. A few days ago my computer started running slow and then a screen appeared that said that my laptop was "trying to repair itself." It automatically restarted. Ever since I am unable to access key websites through Internet Explorer. Sometimes partial pages load and other times it won't open at all. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and can open all my websites with no problem, so I am thinking it is a problem with Internet Explorer. Because it came already loaded I am told that I can't remove and re-download it. Can anyone help me with what I can do to fix this problem?

Do a 'sfc /scannow' in CMD and see if it fixes IE.

Otherwise check for virusses or other malicious software that may be harming your PC.
