Hi, i have a vista home premium 32bit, i have recently been having problems with internet explorer, freezing and not opeing certain sites, and restarting etc, when i try to update it through microsoft, it says:-

To install updates from this website, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your computer. If you use Windows XP, you can see if you are an administrator by going to User Accounts in Control Panel.

Note: If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you using this website. Contact your system administrator for help with updates.

I am signed on as the administrator, and there is nothing wrong with the network setting's, i dont understand what i can do, i hate being in the middle of something and it freezes, or restarts.

Try a reset on Internet explorer. To do this , click on Start button > in the search box type inetcpl.cpl and hit enter > now click on the Advanced tab on the top right hand corner and click on the button that says Reset. restart internet explorer.

It could be an add-on that is messing things up. Have you tried it with Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), which you will find on your Start Menu under All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools. If this works, then you can troubleshoot your normal IE connections by selecting Tools menu -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or disable Add-ons.

Thank you i did try this, and thought it would solve the problem, but this morning when i turned on my pc, it wouldn't turn on, instead i just got a black screen that seemed to be trying to start, then start up repair popped up, i decided to run it, then restore back to july 08, it seems to be fine now, but still a bit slow, no problems with freezing though, thank you :D
