Internet explorer problem with e-mail

I'm using iexplorer version 8. I'm having a couple of problems. One is when I try to access e-mail it come up with the message "object doesn't support this property or method". When I click "OK" it goes ahead and brings up the e-mail. Another problem is that the browser gets "hung up" and stays in a loop until I cancel it. I've tried downloading the latest ver. of explorer but it won't let me install it as it says I have a later ver. of explorer. I've tried to find explorer in my programs to delete it but it's not listed!? Any help would be appreciated. I also use Firefox and don't have these problems with it.

If you are having trouble with your webmail in IE8, this troubleshooting guide should help:
1. Delete the browsing history
In IE click Tools --> then click Delete Browsing History -->In Delete Browsing History, click Delete All --> Click to select the Also delete files and settings that are stored by add-ons check box, and then click OK.

2. Run Internet Explorer in No Add-ons mode
Click Start , and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box.
Click Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons). Internet Explorer opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
If disabling all add-ons resolves the problem, you might want to use Add-on Manager to disable all add-ons, and then turn on add-ons only as you want them. This lets you determine which add-on is causing the problem. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start , and then click Internet Explorer.
Click Tools.
Click Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons.
For each add-on, select the add-on, and then click Disable. When you want to enable an add-on, click Enable.
Click OK.

3. Like Richc46 mention, try resetting Internet Explorer settings
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK two times.
Close Internet Explorer, and then reopen it. The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer.

4. Perform a System Restore
Click Start -> Click All Programs and then click Accessories --> In Accessories, click System Tools, and then click System Restore.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

5. Contact your Webmail provider for support
If the previous methods do not resolve your issue, you can contact your Webmail provider to see whether they can help you.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Bryn

Thanks for both of your replies! I have tried disabling the add ons with no success, but I'll try the other suggestions and see what happens. MS recommends a total system scan which they say can take up to 3 hours! I don't understand why I can't download and install the latest ver of ie8. It tells me that my ver is newer than the one available for download!? Thanks again for your time.

Thanks again for your help. I think I'll just use Firefox and forget about explorer. I don't want to spend my time de-bugging explorer. Thanks again!
