I'm trying to install Maya 8.5, it refuses to continue and pops up a dialog reads: "The InstallShield Script Engine is older than the version required. The installation couldn't be completed... please install the latest isscript.msi."

What's wrong with the InstallShield?
How can i fix it?

(i have tried the method on http://support.installshield.com, but seems be no use at all !)

Hi DeXtmL,
I was wondering what would happen if you right clicked on the install file and choose "run as administrator"? Would that help? Also if your installing on top of a previous version you might want to uninstall the previous version first then try a "run as" on the Maya 8.5 install.

It's a pity that use admin mode doesn't help; and... i don't have a older version on my system. this is the first time for me to install maya.

what if you were to rename the installshield folder in C:/Program Files/Common Files, wouldn't windows automatically create a new installshield?

yeah sorry it didn't work, it was just something i had read on one of their support forums. it seems like there are a bunch of problems cropping up with it, as i was having trouble with installshield as well...

Hey Patio, could u share your problem in this thread? Maybe yours happens to be the same as mine only with a diff appearance. The more symptoms we collect the better we can understand the installshield. :)

i was trying to install a program and halfway thru, the installation progress bar would just stop and it would wait and wait and wait, til finally a box came up said installshield has stopped working. then an error message came up stating that there was a problem... error -5009 i believe. i went to the installshield forums and one person had said to try and rename the installshield folder in CommonFiles. didn't work...still having the problem, so i just gave up on the install.

Well, your problem doesn't appears like the fault of installshield, maybe it's your setup program's erroneously working.
my problem is solved. i have mailed Autodesk customer support, they stated that Maya8.5 is not supported on Vista. I was curious about why boos of ppl claim Maya works well with Vista since version 7.0 ! i changed to Maya 2008 Trial, no more problems.
