installing vista

hi, i have had vista installed and running but i took my computer back to factory settings using the upgrade disc, i have now had an error code 0x004f06i
saying software licence determined that this specified product key can only be used for upgrading and not for clean installation i am not up on these things i think i no what it means but can i do anything about it
they are saying my subscription will end in 26 days but this is a legal disc that i bought. can anyone help please regards jonmerc:mad:

Hello JONMERC, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It sounds like you have entered the product key number during the first install with the Upgrade installation DVD. Check with this tutorial to see if this is how you did a clean install with your Upgrade Vista. If it is not, then you will need to format and start over.

i tried the advice that you gave me on the second attempt i could put the product key in and it was accepted but when i went back to the computer details screen the 30 days renewal was still there so i do not think i have done it right regards jonmerc

hi no it means i have got the pc running, but on the view computer details page it has got 29 days to activate but when i put the product key in i am getting the error code
0x0004F061 SOFTWARE LICENCE DETERMINED THAT THIS SPECIFIED PRODUCT KEY CAN ONLY BE USED FOR UPGRADING NOT FOR CLEAN INSTALLATIONS.
