Installing Vista x64

Im currently running XP and Ubuntu, however I will be installing Vista x64 in the next few days instead of XP.

What I need to know is what drivers I will need to get before I install Vista?

Should I get all the drivers now and put them on a cd for when Vista is installed or shall I just install them when Vista has installed? Im not sure what the best way to do it is?

My system is:

Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200
2 x 2gb DDR2 6400
450W Corsair VX Series PSU
750gb Samsung SpinPoint hard drive
PowerColor HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 256bit Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

It's probably easier to install drivers after you've installed Vista.

You could always grab your mobo chipset driver and ATI drivers first, but there should be no problem installing first, updating later

I've got an ASUS P5Q PRO and a 4850 and Vista x64 installed without a hitch. Is this a fresh HD format? You may want to change your IDE settings in BIOS to AHCI first. Apparently Ubuntu 8.10 defaults to that when installing and has been causing problems detecting Sata drives in IDE mode. If it's not a fresh format, just disregard.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will do a fresh HD format. In fact, what is the best way to do this if Ive got both XP and Ubuntu installed? Ideally, I would like to keep Ubuntu as it is and just install Vista over XP?

Also, where can I get the mobo chipset driver (I cant find it here ) and the ATI drivers?

Good guide John. If it's not GRUB hiding Windows, it's Window stomping out GRUB.
