Installing second DVD-ROM drive

I took my old Dvd-rom reader out of my mom's pc to put it in mine. Now I have a question before connecting it. There are two IDE entries on my motherboard, but right now I only have one cable (the broad, grey one, very thin). On this cable I have two connectors, this cable is inserted in the BLUE entry on my motherboard and one of the connectors connects my MASTER drive to my motherboard. Now I know I have to configure the second one as slave, but my question is whether I can connect the second drive to the same cable (to the second connector) or whether I have to get a new of those broad, thin cables and connect it to the second GREY entry on my motherboard??

Greetings,

Amplid

If your HD is SATA, you can use the second connector on the wide grey cable your first DVD/CD drive is connected with... just make it slave to the first one... you will need a power connector from the power supply... But I'm guessing you have spares..~ :)

Use the same cable and set them both on cable select (CS). Master and slave will not be necessary on a cable with blue, black and grey connectors.
