Installer

Hello all, I did a complete system recovery from the disks I ordered from HP and now whenever the pc starts it hangs up in a "installing windows updates' screen. Also when it finally boots up all the way and I try to install or delete a program I get a "windows installer could not be accessed" message. I looked in services
and the installer is not listed. Any help would be appreciated. I am currently buying
parts for a new build and this pc will become my sons. HP A1720n with Vista Home Premium 32bit. Any help would be appreciated.

We had a similar problem in the forum and one of our best in this area gave advice. It did not work in that situation but my work in yours.
As a warning, I must remind you that any registry changes can cause problems that will be difficult to resolve be careful and back up registry first.A system restore point would be helpful, too.

Badly phrased. Please use the tutorial Flavius linked to in the above post, rather than that specific thread, as that could be outdated by now, but the tutorial is kept updated.
