Initial Connection problems

Hi all, First I'd like to say Hi - I've just installed Vista x64 Home Premium from XP64 - in the last 24hours.

Anyway, whenever I reboot my PC I have the devils own job to reconnect to the internet - or even my own network.

Set up is as follows.

100Mbs wired network from my PC to a Netgear WGR614v6 DSL router into the broadband modem.
I have a Weston Digital My World 1Tb external network drive attached to the router, also wired.

Once its up it works well (1Mb download speed is common) - just can take some time to get there.

If I connect my works laptop (Xp) via the wireless it works fine - and seems to sometimes kick the desktop to connect - but not always.

I did reduce the UPnP broadcast time down to 1 minute from the standard 30 - and that appeared to help - or at least it came straight up after changing it - and seemed to help the next reboot - but not the next.

Its a real pain at the moment especially, as I am upgrading and installing my software to get it all working again and reboots are common.

I've tried to make sure I have the latest drivers for all the hardware. I only have 1 device that drivers cannot be found - and I can't work out whats missing.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Mark

Update on my problem, in which it appears I am alone! :(

I have set everything to have static IP addressing in the PC, the alternate is set for a different IP, but within the DCHP range of the router. I have also set the DNS addresses to be the same as the router (I use manually set ones, one from my ISP and one external to that)

I now seem to get on the network and interent straight away from a reboot, but after 23minutes since the last reboot, the router is still unidentified.

I have UPnP enabled in the router, and the PC is discoverable.
