Solved Indexing troubles

First of all, hello to everyone, this is my first post, and I hate it having to be with an issue I can't seem to fix.

My indexing service is running, as so my search service, but the problem starts here...
When I search something on the start menu, it only brings up my installed programs, no documents, so then I press enter and it goes to the advanced search, which uses my indexed locations, and so, the document I was searching.

I'm not too sure when the problem first began, I blamed windows search 4.0, so I uninstalled the update, and the problem is still there, even after restoring the index to default settings, nothing changed. No error messages what so ever.

So, anyone else had this problem, any suggestions?

Hello Desto, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Have you already changed your Search settings to something similar to what they are in this tutorial?

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/75447-search-options.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I tried it, and it didn't solve my problem, the search bar on the explorer windows does work well, only problem is the start menu search, I already know it is indeed indexing well, but for some reason it just won't show the files.

Thanks for your help.

Desto,

Did you check all of the Search options in the Start Menu Customize area so that they will be included in the search from the Start Menu?

Desto,

Did you check all of the Search options in the Start Menu Customize area so that they will be included in the search from the Start Menu?

I went there, and on search files, I had search for only the current user, I changed it to all the entire index and It's working now.

I'm not too sure why, because I only have one user on my system, but oh well, at least it's working now!

Thanks for your help Brink!:D
