Hello all, I had a virus that hide my favorites. Rid computer of Virus and figured i would just make new favorites, well as i tried to add my favorites it would tell me i already have that file. So i searched and found my favorites. Now when i try to import my favorites it tells me invalid file name. I am now using IE9.

Hi welcome to the forum. Sorry you got problems.
Lost favourites, that came up the other day on the forum with virus infecting the loss of same.
Slightly different circumstances.
Where did you find them?
You are IE9 now, were you the same when virus infection?
What program/s did you use to rid yourself of virus?
Thank you.

I was using IE8 when i was infected...used malwarebytes to get rid of virus..figured out i had lost favorites, tried to import favorites it said " invalid file name" found fav's under start\<currentusername>\favorites, tried to import from there would not work so i copied it to my documents that would not work so i renamed it bookmarks.htm still said invalid file name. So i downloaded IE9 tried to import again same problem. Changed the registry like arvin said still do not have favorites.
