IE7 goes crazy

A forum member posted a similar problem 706 days ago, got no replies, so I'm reopening it in a new thread.

When I click on a "mailto:..." link in Opera 10.10 numerous instances of IE7 rapidly open (as many as 30) causing error: "A desktop heap allocation failed." Today it happened when I clicked on an email link in Universal Viewer.

My default email ap is Thunderbird. Opera knows that too: Preferences>Advanced>Programs>mailto C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thun... Also, the system knows that Thunderbird is the default.

Please don't tell me to stop clicking on email links outside Thunderbird. I'm quite diligent 95% of the time but sometimes I'm spastic , click the wrong link.

Well that seem a bit odd, Opera is a really stable browser (i use it too) so you should try uninstalling an reinstalling both programs (opera and thunderbird) it helped me in problems like that one, hope it works for you too!

Hi Dark Empero
You didn't read my posting closely. I don't have trouble Thunderbird. Opera works fine unless I click on a "mailto" link. Then 20-30 instances of IE7 are rendered nearly crashing my PC.
