Hi,
I have just recover my window vista business. But i don't know why the IE7 always opens automatically. Many times i cancel it but it still opens again and again. The possibility of having virus if very low because i have just recovered the window. Can anyone please help me with this?
Thanks in advance:)

IE is very probably included in the list of programmes and utilities which automatically statr at boottime. Tap your Windows key and R at the same time and in the Run box, type msconfig and hit Enter. Click the Startup tab and you can safely untick anything in there you don't need when the system starts. You'll be looking for the programme by name or by it's executable, iexplore.exe. You won't be disabling anything - just postponing it from opening until you ask it to. When you finish, click Apply and OK. The system will insist on restarting and when it comes back, tick the "Don't show this message again" box and hit Enter.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Can you please tell me how to "Tap your Windows key and R at the same time"? I don't quite understand what is the window key. :(.

Hi Saga
I have just check the thing you recomended. But there is not the internet explorer in the list.
By the way, i suspect that the problem is not only about the startup program, because the IE opens frequently during the time i use computer, not only at the start of the window.

Firstly, sorry - I must stop assuming every keyboard has a Windows key. For other readers of this thread, if you have one it has the Windows logo on it and is usually to the left of the Spacebar. As to your IE problem, something must be calling it to open and I would be suspicious of malware trying to 'phone home. In your position, I would run all my malware scanners and if you have any doubts, ask the Moderators to move your thread to another Forum where appropriate advice can be found. IE isn't usually in the habit of going to work without being asked.
