Good luck with getting another job. I'm retired but even so I'm no longer physically able to work, and in todays climate finding work is hard especially when a certain age I know my husband is unemployed and he's an accountant but he's just turned 60 so I doubt he'll get another job. :(

I don't know the answer to your question, but I hope you find a job you like soon. This economic situation thing is really getting people down.

Good luck on your job.

I would think that GS (*******) would like to see the A+ or something, but I don't know.

I have a job (music teacher) but I haven't really "worked" any yet. Just "training". LOL. I should start soon.

Unemployment is on the rise here in Australia too, across all age groups. This economic downturn is cyclical - it will improve & happen again! The tragedy is that we don't learn from history, we seem doomed to repeat things. Hang in there the job hunters, try to be patient & don't let your sense of humour desert you. Good luck.

Out of work for the first time in nine years.

Certs are plus at BB, but apparantly not a requirement. Was offered a job at BB, but they wouldn't pay for my experience, cert, or existing pay rate from Circuit City. They just wanted a warm body to fill a slot.

Hate dealing with the Texas Workforce Commision so I much rather be employed

presently employed after around 2 and a half years of being unemployed. A number of businesses closed/moved out of the area after hurricane Katrina hit. One of them was my employer moving out of town.

Some job interviews were done by people who can think. Some not. And other job interviewers are nuts.

I got one of those books on what to do and what not to do during an interview. And what trick questions there are.

Also, it contained info on things like 'fake interviews'. I was subjected to one of these. The interviewer and I sat down at a table. Someone sat down at a nearby table with their back to us. I realized later the person talking to me wasn't the interviewer, they were just asking me a set of questions. The real person making the decisions on my employment worth was the other person. They were 'reading a book', but never turned any pages.

A different job and different interviewer 'corrected' the spelling of words on my resume. Then told me I should use a spell checker. I use a hard bound dictionary, and mentioned I did to the interviewer. They decided I was being obnoxious.

The book mentioned the interviewer's job these days is not to find the best fit for a job, but to decrease the number of candidates for the job by decreasing the list of applicants. There are a number of questions that cannot be asked in the US these days during an interview. But if you volunteer information that is okay. Which is why some interviewers have photos of family they don't have on their desks. Its to get you to talk about your family and kids.

Places like BB are on the way out. They cannot compete. It would be a cool job though. I would like to work around electronics all day. I sit at a computer all day but can't do much playing. (big company) They have half of the internet blocked and make me use XP.

I just went to BB to look at video cards. They had a Nvidia 9500 GT that you could get on Newegg for 1/2 price. I just can't see how they could last much longer. One just opened a mile from my house....so that's cool.

For my area, BestBuy is the first computer place to come in. Before that the only stores to get computers and acessories was Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart. The local Office Max and Office Depot have a few computers.
