I've been having a problem with my laptop for the longest time now and its starting to really get me frustrated. when i run full screen applications like my Zune player, VLC player, my games (which gets me sad cause i want to play my pc games) and other apps like those. my screen goes black with colored lines going down the screen and my laptop locks up and i have to shut it down. i took it to best buy where i bought it and they didnt fix it. and after looking through the web i found out that i might have a bad video card but i dont know what to do about it. can anyone give me some help?

What are your system specs especially your video card?

Also, do you have the most recent drivers installed for it?

Have you tried changing the settings in the Catalyst Control Panel to Performance? Sometimes this makes a difference. My old Dv7 had the same graphics and it works fine. Its an integrated card so it really cant go bad, unless extremely overheated but that is fairly impossible to do.

Is it still under warranty? HP support may have some help with solving this issue. It could be something stupid or complicated...hard to tell from this end.

I wish you luck and I hope this helps.

thanks for the tip. ill change it up right now and ill let you kno what happens

EDIT: so i tried it and it still gives me the same problem. i went back and forth with the hp help and they just kept telling me to update the drivers and other things that i told them that i've already done, so they're kind of useless.

My sister has the exact same laptop and is having the exact same issue as you, i've tried the same things with updating the drivers, and changing the settings to performance, I wanted to know did you ever resolve this issue and if so how did you do it?
I am thinking the computer may require a new motherboard, which is not hard to do i've had it apart before to clean the fan and heatsink assembly.
