i need some help guys, i'm running a vista home basic on my newly purchased acer desktop, when the dreaded blue screen appears with stop: 0x0000007E error on the screen. I tried all the help i can get through forums and self-help but to no avail. i tried system restore and the last known good configuration in safe mode but everytime i restart and as i enter my password on the computer the welcome screen takes forever to load. i can't seem to access anything from my computer, i cannot input anything that will solve the problem because the welcome screen just hangs in there. please help!

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I too am getting the blue screen with the flowing system memo:

This is on a Fijitsu Laptop. N6470-112C2DT5550 which Fry's gave me as a loaner while they repair my Fujitsu A N6460-C2D T5250. Both run Vista 32 bit home premium.

Both units have the same problem so it is probably the ATI driver and/video card and not the laptop itself. With my original puter i was getting the stretched desktop message before the screen would blank otu the then the screen would go blank and I would have to restart witht he power off button. The newer one gooes to the blue scfreen but both are caused by a failure of the ATIKMAD. Of course, ATI denies any responsibilty for the issue.
Has anypone gotten this isuue resolved successfully. KNow I have not and have the same issue with two different units, back to back. Nasty problen. Does not happen if I do not run a second Monitor but I need to do that.

Steadyjohn, you could best start your own topic as your blue screen has nothing to do with that of the topic owner (the main hexadecimal number is different), we can't handle two persons at a time to avoid confusion.

This error occurs when a driver uses an incorrect memory address. Other possible causes of this error are an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, and incompatible software.

Look for other hardware issues. Remove any newly installed Hardware. Remove all adapters and disconnect all hardware devices that are not required to start the computer.
Examine third-party software or drivers.
Boot the system using windows vista dvd, click Repair Your Computer, and then select Start up Repair.
Download windows debugging tool from : http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/debuggers/dbg_x86_6.9.3.113.msi
open the tool and press Ctrl+D to generate a crash dump report and look for the exact cause of the blue screen(caused by driver).
Reinstall vista.

My old one broked so maybe is something from this old stuff or maybe i got broken new...:(

This is information about my blue screen error...

It could be a driver issue as stated in a previous post in this thread. Have you installed any drivers recently?

Id also need to see your complete computer hardware list. If its a new machine is high powered componments, that 450w PSU might be a tad low powered.

I read about my power supply and it says that 450W is enough

I dont know what do you mean by "New drivers" instaled....do you mean programs or pieces

I instaled all necessary for my comp....

EDIT:

What i've found out is that its doing this when i'm playing a game....it breaks, blue screen and then restart....

Hi- I don't know If you have that problem fixed yet but I bought a New Dell Studio 1535 Laptop 2 weeks ago and had the blue screen of death after I put a "Hacked" Bitdefender antivirus 64 bit on the laptop, including a couple of other Items I didn't expect to mess It up. I got the error message: "Irql not less or equal" Something I saw in another post connected to your problem. It didn't start right away but I tried EVERYTHING I knew possible and i finally saved everything I could after uninstalling every program one by one to see if it stopped (It didn't) and after a week back to the state it was in from the Factory "I finally restored to factory specifications" from the "D" partition which had the operating system Imaged on it, and it finally solved to problem for good. I got to it with F8, "Repair my SysteM' etc. I would get the BSOD whenever i rebooted my machine and then has to use System Restore to get it going again. If you have given up, that did it for me, and Im a expert at reinstalling systems, I got all my experience from taking chances for about 12 years. I've built several from scratch, but the new laptops really can help you fix them in many ways. Bye, Kudii
