I have a LAN connection, but IE wants to open my PPPoE connection

I have a sometimes unreliable LAN connection at work, and a wireless broadband (PPPoE) for home and about. If I've been on the PPPoE, and switch to the LAN (it's cheaper), or if IE just thinks that it's not connected, I get a pop-up to open the PPPoE connection. The problem is that I may be connected to the LAN, and not have my modem with me.

Is there any way for the open network connection dialog to also list the LAN connection as an option. It only gives me the option of opening the PPPoE, or working offline.
