I E 8 Notification

I downloaded and am using IE 8. A few times a week, however, I get that half screen pop up from microsoft telling me that I should update. I received my IE8 through automatic update. Any way to stop this harassment?

Hello Rich,

This may be an update for IE8 and not to update to IE8 instead. I would recommend to install the Windows Update to help keep IE8 up to date. Installing the update should stop the message until a newer one comes out.

Thanks for the time to help, Brink. I am not referring to an update. I am getting what I got before I installed IE8. When I log in or boot, half my screen is covered with a large pop up from Microsoft telling me why I should use IE8. It is the same notifiication that I used to download, originally.

Does it come up everytime when you login to your user account? You can try disabling startup items in msconfig to see if that stops this annoying pop up.

In addition to Dinesh's post, try reinstalling IE 8 to see if that fixes this problem.

I happens almost every time I log into the Admin account, which I do not use for surfing, etc. It happens about 3 times a week when I log into my regular account.

I would try uninstalling and download and reinstall IE8 to see if that may help as well.

If you decide to download and reinstall IE 8 as Brink suggested, you should download the install file from http:/www.browserforthebetter.com?ocid=ie8_sm_a and feed 8 people. 8 meals are donated to Feeding America for every complete download and install of Internet Explorer 8 from http:/www.browserforthebetter.com?ocid=ie8_sm_a.
