HP dv5t Maximum Sound Volume Very Low

I have a very low level of sound volume, and can't seem to raise it, no matter what I try to configure in either the Sound section or the IDT Audio section.

I have an HP dv5t, and am running Vista 64 bit. The system has IDT High Definition Audio (version 1.0.6225.0; and IDT Driver - version 6.10.6225.0), and NVIDIA High Definition Audio (version 1.0.0.0.59 - Driver files version 6.0.6001.18000 longhorn_rtm.080118-1840). I also have Bluetooth Stereo Audio on my system, although I've never used it. Device Manager says all 3 are working properly.

When I plug in headphones I get a much higher amount of sound volume -- although it may be misleading because the sound is, of course, directly in one's ears. I have tried to set all of the customizations that I can think of, but really could use some suggestions.

No suggestions? I know this is a fairly common problem with the HP Pavillion series (and some others). Come on guys, please help! There must be something I can do to raise my maximum volume level. . .
