HP 1012 Driver Installation

Can someone please outline the steps to install a driver for the HP 1012Laserjet.
I have downloaded the Host Based Driver for Vista.
But there is no inf file in the expanded list of files.
When I tried to add a Printer, it is looking for an inf file.
Have I downloaded the right file?

Disconnect the printer. The follow these steps.

Host-based printing. Hmmm...

It has the firmware too.

I tried it but it did not work for me.
I went thru the steps of installing the driver without the printer connected.
Then when I connected it, Vista tried to install but it posted en error about generic something was missing.

Seems to me like there is only one driver to download for the printer, so you had to

have downloaded the right one..

Try this,

Press the Windows key + R

Type: msconfig

Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services" button

Click the "Diable All" button

Click "Apply"

Click "OK"

You will be prompted to restart your computer, do so.

After your computer has restarted try installing the driver.

Looking at the downloaded file it has a lot of Cab files but no inf file so it is not recognized as a legit set of files for installation.

The printing service is different from regular printers. It's host-based; the computer does all the rasterizing work. Maybe that's why it has INF file?
