Guys,

Ive got into a bit of a mess with vista 64 an xp, ill explain (long story).

Basically my primary part had XP then second partition had Vista64, something when wrong with XP so i deleted it and shrunk it and now i only use vista64, which shows up as my primary partition.

How do i get rid of the XP partition, ive used a partition manager (paragon) but when i try to delete the partition it comes up with use your rescue disk (vista) or something similiar.

Basically i wanna get rid of the XP partition (which was primary) and make the vista 64 partition (which is now primary) my main drive not partitions.

Whats should i do ?

I was thinking of shrinking the vista64 partition and trying dual boot again, or shrink vista 64, reinstall vista64 on the xp partition and delete the old vista64 partition and make the new vista64 into one drive, man that sounds wierd.

What do you all think.

Hey raks,

Use GParted -- Welcome and delete the XP partition then strech the Vista partition to cover the whole drive and it might take some time...
Afterwards reboot and take out the CD and let Vista try boot and if it fails open the repair menu from the Vista DVD after the language setup screen and it should recover the bootloader and reboot itself so just take the DVD out and it should startup properly.

thanks for the quick response, ive done what you suggested a while ago, i just wanted to get rid of the XP partitions which has nothing on it. its 7.8gb free space, as i said before the XP partition was the main primary partition thats why im finding it hard to get rid of and have it as one drive
