How do I find the thread I posted

Hi,

I posted a question on Vista Forums and have heard from no one.

1. How do I find the question that I posted?

2. Here is the question again. Actually there were two questions posted at the same time on the same "New Thread"

Posted Previously:

I use Windows Mail and I cannot forward myself any messages. MY ISP is Verizon, so they get the messages first and then they come straight to my Windows Mail Inbox. I can also log on to Verizon and see all my emails I get. When I forward something to myself, Verizon email gets it but it doesn't come over to WM. I have called Verizon and they have shared my computer and find no problem with Verizon. I have also called Norton's and they did the same thing and they said that it is not an issue with Norton. The both of them suggested I contact Microsoft. I can't afford to do that because they will charge me a hefty fee by the hour. I also posted this on 10/6/10 from the "Help" tab on my WM to "Question & Answers from Communities --that would be Microsoft Communities. They usually answer my quetions very quickly by leaving me a message in my email. I have heard nothing from them. Today, I tried to get on to Microsoft Communities Help with WM and I couldn't. I also have on my folder list a folder names msnews.microsoft.com and under that there is another folder called: ms.public.windows (I didn't put it there, it just came automatically when my computer was set up): I usually get everyone's questions in those folders and from time to time I click on it and there may be over 500 messages in there, so I delete them. There has been nothing in those folders for quite some time. So there is definitely someting wrong.

My other question was: My Windows Mail spellcheck doesn't work and hasn't worked for about 2 years. I changed the language to another one instead of English and then changed it back to English thinking that might help. It didn't. So I also posted this in Microsoft Communities and received several suggestions--none worked so they told me to get Windows Live Mail. They gave me the link and I downloaded it. When I did, not all my folders came over and those that did either didn't have anthing in them or didn't have everything in them that was in my WM folder. MS Communities tried to help me again and they were stumped. No one could help me. It's very frustrating. I don't even feel like going on my computer anymore that's how much it is bothering me at this point.

Can anyone help me, please!!!

Windows Communities Help for WM no longer exists - well it is still there (I was able to get there - try: Discussions in Windows Mail), but it is completely empty and no longer supported and of no use. There is no special support group, newsgroup (if you could access them), forum or other site I'm aware of that still exists and focuses on Windows Mail. Almost everyone using Windows Mail is switching to Windows Live Mail - which is much different than the last time you looked (if the other link above is the last time you tried). Perhaps this time the new Windows Essentials 2011 version will work better than what you tried before.

Verizon itself no longer supports newsgroups (with any e-mail product or even online): Verizon | High Speed Internet - Verizon Newsgroup Service Has Been Discontinued.... That probably explains why you are receiving nothing.

I'm not sure about spellcheck in WM. What happens when you try? Do you have it enabled in Tools / Options / Spelling?

Does the WM e-mail problem only occur with forwarding? Is it OK with replies and regular sending?

Again, I recommend you try Windows Essentials 2011 and at least choose Windows Live Mail 2011 and see if that resolves these problems (and gives you a better product at the same time - perhaps the importing issues you faced before have been solved (when I did so recently, it transferred absolutely everything from WM with no problems and nothing missing)). http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other.

I hope this helps.

Thanks and good luck!

Hi Lorien,

Thank you very much for informing me about Windows Community Help. You stated that I should try to install Windows Live Mail (WLM) and that it is different from the last time I installed it. Can you send me the link to install it (WLM) and I will try to install it again and see what happens? You also mention that the new Windows Essentials 2011 version will work better than what you tried before. That's the same as WLM, correct? I'm not very computer literate so I usually need step by step instructions to do anything....

Also, here's the answers to your questions.

1. The forwarding only happens when I forward to myself or from Verizon Mail to myself. When I forward something to someone else, it's ok.

2. The spellcheck problem: I used the "Tools, Options, Spelling tab and even reset it for a different language and then reset it to English again and still I get the same message-- that "The spellcheck on this document was halted. Do you want to send it anyway?" I just say yes. If I do want to use spellcheck, what I do is copy the email to MS Word and paste it there and use their spellcheck. If I have an error, I fix it in Word and cc & paste into the email with the corrections and then send it.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

The link to Windows Essentials 2011 is at the bottom of the last paragraph in my prior post. Here it is again: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other. When you elect to download it, it offers options of what programs you want to download (think of Essentials like Office and WLM 2011 as like Word - Essentials is a Suite and WLM 2011 is one of the applications in it) - and one is WLMail 2011. I downloaded it all myself, but you can choose what you want (just WLM 2011 and the Bing toolbar which can't be de-selected) and just get that. Keep in mind that it probably won't play nice with prior versions of Messenger or other products now available as Live applications if you use them (so if you do, I'd select them as well).

So the error only occurs when forwarding to yourself. Not when forwarding to others and not when sending or replying to anyone including yourself. Very odd. I'm afraid I'm not sure how to resolve this one though I will keep looking. That other forum is more likely to be of real help. As a workaround, why not copy the message and just send it to yourself (rather than use forwarding at all)?

I'm sorry, but I do not have the faintest idea how to fix spellcheck (it works fine for me). Maybe they can help you in the other forum with that (unless you try WLM 2011 and like it and it solves all of these problems - wouldn't that be cool!).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Lorien,

I just tried to cc myself from an email in my Verizon Mail and it didn't go either. In my WM, it says I have new mail, but nother appears as new. I will download the WLM as the suite as you suggested. I don't know if I will do it right now because I have something I have to do but I will try it the first chance I get and let you know how it works.

Thanks Again for ALL your help!!

Nadia :D

My Computer

Hi Again Lorien,

I just tried to cc myself in an email I replied to someone else and it didn't work either. It said I have new mail. The little "new mail symbol" appears on the bottom as usual, but no new email. I even tried to do the "send & receive" to see if it would come over then, but it still didn't. But Verizon Mail is getting them and WM is not. How about that one!!

Thanks,

Nadia
