Hot running

Hi,

I just recently built this computer (see specs below) and I'm running into a problem... SpeedFan says my cores are running at 44,48,51,51 (Celsius respectively) and my GPU at 50C. I dont think this is good, since there are the red up arrows and flames next to them. I can post up pics of my rig, but i thought i had it cooled pretty well. I even have a CPU heatsink and fan thats HUGE (liek 100cm tall) that is supposed to cool it and another fan infront of my GPU. HELP! How do i fix this!

EDIT: When my system uses over 40% of any core, it hits about 50C! Just thought i would mention it.

This is normal. However if you are worried be sure of the following things.

1. You have a good type of thermal paste applied. (i recomend artic silver).
2. You have good airflow inside your tower, Fans to draw air in and suck out.

You can check the rated temp of your CPU and GPU by going on the respective website or using google.

my video card idles at 65 degrees celcius and it doesnt worry me. I have an NVIDIA 9800GT. I suppose I could turn the fan up but it doesnt seem necessary to me.

I used to have a 7600GS that would idle between 46c-50c. It's your GPU temps at load that should count.

Ah ok... I thought that was far too hot but it seems to be normal. Ok. Thanks. I guess I'm sort of paranoid because I have fried previous systems... Ok well thanks for all the help.

Sorry I don't notice this before, but your q8200 is a 45nm chip and from what I understand, Speedfan / Coretemp are more for 65nm chips.

To double check whether it's 45nm, download CPU-Z:

CPUID

And if it's showing as 45nm, download Realtemp 2.70:

Realtemp 2.70 has better accuracy with 45nm chips. Using RT, my idle loads are 33,28,33,37*(stuck sensor). Using Everest ultimate they are 38,33,38,42*


Again, it's your load temps that count the most

Sh*t. I may have been wrong about real temp and it's default settings. It's Tjmax default is set to 95. I've been looking into this further, and found that Intel released the Tjmax settings for all it's Core 2 range in October. For some of the 45nm chips, the Tjmax should be 100c and not 95c.

Setting the tjmax in realtemp to 100 as per the intel specs, is giving the same results as Everest, Cpuid and CoreTemp....

So now my idle is 41,37,38,*
and at load 58,49,51,52

which is a 7-9c difference than before. It also means that my noctua is not doing it's job properly


So now I am confused as to what my temps are really. Some say that 95c is correct (like I thought it was) and others are saying that 100c is correct.

There's a lot of misinformation out there and I'm sorry if I added to it before
