Hello,

I have got my dad a new PC with Vista Premium. My dad logs on as a user, while I am the administrator. I want to be the one to install programs and keep the machine under my control.

My dad plays PokerStars and some weeks it does a software update when the program is started. At this point, the system says can't wait to disk (I guess because he's not an admin, the computer does not let him install anything). how can i configure permissions so that my dads user account can install the updates?

thank you

Only a Admin account can do it, or a standard user will have to put in the admin user's password.

You fathers account as a standard user has no elevated priviledges to make system changes-that means no installs. For his account to make Admin level operations He will have to be able to gain elevation through UAC prompt. Even your account (admin) runs as a standard User by default, using UAC elevation to perform Admin functions.

If you want his account to do this it either needs to became an admin, or he needs to run it through your account as the admin.
