Help with Domain Security Policy?

We are running at my work 2 workgroups. My CoWorker and I are on a domain and need to connect to one of the servers on the workgroup using a simulation program. We get access denied error messages in the simulator program. Windows Explorer connects just fine to the workgroup server though.

We think there is a problem with the password security policy on the workgroup not being up to standard of my domain's security policy. The password to log into the server causes an error message saying the password is "too long, too short, or not complex enough." when we try to create a user account.

Any advice or ideas on troubleshooting or solving this further?

Best bet ask the domain admin. He/she is obviously using a different encryption std/logon than the workgroup.

He is the one having me look this up haha.

Basically, the simulator program needs the accounts to talk back and forth between my computer and the server, not for reading or writing files but just communicating. The source files are on the server and the simulator needs to communicate with the files. When I create the supplied user account and password given, the error comes up that the password doesn't meet requirements. But, that is the password created downstairs and works with the computers connected to the workgroup. My CoWorker and I are on a domain are the only one experiencing the problem.

is the uswer anme and password being generated on the workgroup? If so try genereating it on the server subnet. also are you copy/pasting? or does it generate a file?

I don't see a file being generated, and not sure what you mean by generating it on the server subnet.

I don't see a file being generated, and not sure what you mean by generating it on the server subnet.

Im sorry some user anme and pwords are auto generated every minute and are put into a file that just gets loaded. I suspect you just copy it and sneaker net it to the server,right?

Not sure about that.

We went into the DCOMCONFIG and checked to make sure it was the correct username and password,
we also went under network properties and made sure everything was correct there. There are no firewalls or security settings I could see. The account works for users on the workgroup but just me and the guy on a separate domain cannot create the necessary user account because the password doesn't meet the domain security requirements.
