Help with blue Screen Dump file

Hello all.
I shut down my Vista Ultimate last night and today when i opened the PC i got Blue Screen, and it said that a Dump file was saved.
I found and zipped the dump file, and i will be glad to upload it here if someone can tell me what to do to prevent it from happen again...

If you upload the minidump(s), from the \windows\minidump folder, someone may be able to help you understand the crashes. Until then, it's not possible to help in any non-guesswork way.

That's analysis - that's not the dump file. If you're going to attach that kind of output, you need to ensure your symbols are right first. Otherwise, attach the minidump itself.

Here's the error in the minidump:

"The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable."

Run CheckDisk to ensure that you don't have hard disk problem(s).

It means the OS is having trouble accessing a very important portion of the registry from its disk-based file image, hence the recommendation to CHKDSK.

[It also means Mr.CyberZeus is probably using private symbols :)]

I tried to run Check Disk, but it gave me an error message.
I printed the screen, and attached the message.
what can i do now??

Navigate to Start>All Programs>Accessories. Then right click on Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator. Then try to run the check disk command.

Start --> All programs --> Accessories --> right click on Command prompt --> Run as administrator.
So you can run chkdsk.
I suggest you tu enter the following command:
chkdsk C: /f

Most likely you'll have to run the command prompt with elevated privileges.
To do this, go to Start and type in "cmd" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box will be an entry for cmd.exe - right click on that and select "Run as adminstrator". Then try running CHKDSK /R

This tells us that the registry is corrupted, and that chkdsk /r won't fix it.
So, it's probably a corruption of your registry. To fix it you'll have to use System Restore to go back to a point before the error started to occur. If you don't have a System Restore point to use, then you're looking at reinstalling Windows.

FWIW - I've seen similar issues with malware infections. Have you been checked out in the malware forums for an infection?

No maleware or viruses. and since my reported blue screen i didn't had another one, but I'm being cautious so I'm interesting in prevention.
By the way, i didn't do the chkdsk /r or chkdsk C: /f that was suggested, only chkdsk, and it told me that i had no bad sectors. should i do chkdsk /r? (what does it mean anyway?).
