Help popup box says windows no disk

Hi, can anybody advise,i get this popup box only when i plug in a flash drive, or external hard drive, it doesent seem to bother the programs and i cant remove it from the screen untill i remove the external hardrives and then restart the computer i have widows vista premium 32-bit

Test what happens with your AV uninstalled. It may be interfering. Otherwise, I've seen something similar due to filter component installed by Nero 8.

I had the same problem few months ago.......I can't recall the name of the virus or symptom....I will reply as soon as I remember it....sorry
You could try this, as it worked for me. Double click on my computer, go to the drive with your operating system on (usually the C drive) right click, click on properties and then on Tools from the box that opens, under error checking click on check now. Click on Automatically fix file system errors, you will get a message say something like windows cannot check the drive because it is in use, do you want to check the file on the next restart, click on Schedule disk check and restart your PC to run the disc check. You should also run Scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

1. Go to Start ​
2. Right click on Compute and select Manage (You need elevated privilege) ​
3. In the left panel expand the Storage tab and select Disk Management​
4. Scroll down the midlle bottom panel that lists the disk and look for any Removable media​
5. Rightclick on any drive listed as removable.​
6. Select Change Drive Letter and Path​
7. Remove the drive​
8. Repeat for all Removable drives.​

Hey I just remembered the name of the trouble maker.......if there is a process named "regsvr.exe" end it immediately and go to C:\Windows (and) or it would be located would be located in C:\Documents and Settings (regsvr.exe) IF it doesn't get deleted cut it from C:\(Windows or Documents and Settings) and paste it to the desktop. Now log off. Log in again and immediately delete it from the desktop.....that should fix it.

did what you advised check disc, and attempt recovery of bad sectors it took a while to check the disc but happy to say it worked thanks a lot...patch41
