Help needed, badly

ok, so i was doing a reinstall of my pc using the recovery disks that i had created.

but whilst in the middle of it i go toilet and come back to find my 1 of my recovery

had been mauled by my dog:confused: , so i got some old recovery disks from my old

laptop (which was Vista home premium same as my current os} and used them but

ive got all the drivers and the rest of the preloaded crap from my laptop.. and my pc only is

showing vista basic... is there a free driver detective out there what can help me out ...

also ,as i sold my old laptop will my vista be a legit copy if not how can i make it legit

any help massively appreciative.thx

Is the recovery partition still on the machine or did you delete it. Look in the start menu, computer for a partition labeled "D: Recovery" or something like that. What company manufactured the machine?

nope . i just put them on 3 dvds .i know what you mean though .it wasnt on this pc which is a acer .. and these toshiba recovery disks wiped out both my hdd's :eek:unlike my acer recovery disks that just deleted the c drive

If this O/S is installed on the pc you sold, using the same key, Then you might have a problem. If you are using a different key then you are ok. Vista will autmatically install most of the drivers at install or when you go to Windows Update, the rest you can download from the notebook OEM website. (i.e., Video/Sound/Sata)

thx. the only problem i have now is my screen size ,ive got the resoloution right,

but still missing half an inch around the moniter.. ive tried using ati catalyst control

centre but it wont pop up the process just keep canceling when i press it ,and it wont let

me update it . i keep getting an error message:sarc:

is there an alternative way of zooming in the screen

p.s im using HDMI cable
