help me please

i have got no landline and am currently using a 3 usb dongle to access the internet. i have an xbox and want to use it online. the proble is that my xbxox cannot detect any settings at all. im not great with this technical stuff but so far iv managed to share the internet and designate the lan port which it uses and thoght that woould be ok o and put them both on public networks but my xbox cannot detect the laptop the ip address subnet mask and gateway are all 0.0.0.0
help please

Do you have your Xbox connected to your router with an Ethernet cable? Or via wireless?

i have it plugged into the laptop but i have managed to fix it now :Di bought an rj45 adaptor i think it was called and it works fine now thanks for replying though
its a bit laggy through the dongle but it works and thats all im bovvered about
