I can not open control panel, games etc, i can not start software licencing, i can not update windows as they say my windows is not genuine, my Direct x has gone, my cd rom dvd drive spins and recognises disks but can not read them, so i can not use a recovery disk. i have an assus, which i bought in Sydney, but i now live in Moscow, so im stuck, can anybody help me please

damn you are having some problems

i would say try a bootable disc if it recognises discs then it should have no problems reading a disc before windows starts

maybe download or borrow another vista disc to reinstall your vista as it may be corrupted with that many problems, and when it comes to it just use your existing genuine key

i see you mentioned a recovery disc...ahh i never liked brand name computers with preloaded software Never goes well when things go wrong

Best of Luck

To boot to your Vista disc, you'll need to go into the Bios and set the Optical Drive to be bootable. On start/restart you'll have a few seconds to hit any key in order to boot from the DVD.

probably the best place to download a copy is from a torrent site

EDITED [z3r010] - REMOVED LINK (Thats my ass covered)

but you will need a torrent downloader program for it

the one i use is Azureus Azureus : Java BitTorrent Client

that should help

P.S
i dont condone downloading and using illegal copies of microsoft products... there my ass is covered

P.S.S
because i really dont care cause the amount of money microsoft makes a year, i think they should sell vista for $50
