help me please! I have Vista Home premium and upon my first attempt to install the game i went thru the whole thing and it made me register. no problem. Then i was able to make heros and when i went to go online with it, it said to download updates...it then proceeded run for about an hour and kept telling me it would take more and more time. So i stopped it, thinking i could go back to it later. Next time i tried, it says "must have addministrative permission to download patch" so i tried again same thing. So i uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Now it kept freezing up on me and i had to ctrl alt delete to get out. So finally it lets me try again and it tells me the same error message. So i go to the game site and look at other peoples suggestions. I change my compatibility to XP and NOW I cant get into the game...it tells me to put the correct disc in...but its disc 1, assumingly the one i would run it off of. So any help at this point would be great.

With every game there is bound to be a few patches. You should of left it go though all the updates instead of being impatient.

Anyway...so now you switched it to XP mode but it's not working.

Solution to me sounds simple.

Uninstall it completely and re-install.

When reinstalling, instead of letting the CD auto-play. Find the installation exe file on the CD and right click-it and select install as administrator.

LET it go through the patches even if it takes a whole day.

I tried that, didnt work, got it to open, but when i go to the online option it still tells me that "You must have administrative rights to install a patch" i really want to make this work...i deleted my cookies and even disabled my windows firewall. HELP!:(

You're looking at this the wrong way. The patching system is fine. All you need to do is find the patch launcher and set that to run as administrator (Right-Click->Properties->Compatibility->Run this program as an administrator) If that doesn't work, temporarily disable UAC and try again
