Help LG External Dvd Cd writer drivers

Help So i just went out and bought this evternal dvd writer and I plug it into my computer and it fails at downloading drivers with plug and play. then i go to the divice manager and try to get it to download new drivers but it says its up to date. but theirs still a yellow flag beside it when it finishes and says its up to date. Please help this thing is driving me crazy

Update! Actually its a problem with my Plug and play I have windows vista 32bit installed and my WD external that i just bought today wont plug and play either. Plus everything works fine on my parents XP loaded computer I would reformat but i dont have a disc drive to do it with. Thanks
