Hi, Sorry to bother you all, I need help.

I've tolerated years of having a good computer which i spent good money on and never being able to utilize its capability. The straw that broke the camel's back was just now when I started to play empire total war and it was being all slow and choppy. Also in the graphics section in the options it has the high and ultra high options greyed out. Does anyone know what I can do to get my graphics card to live up to its potential? I have two graphics cards running sli (whatever that is) so I must have a good graphics engine capable of playing any game on the market today. I spent thousands on this system and I would just like to know how to make it work like the time machine I imagined it was when I bought it. Any help would be more than appreciated

Hi dandadandan,

Could you please let us know what your system specs are? This will enable us to help you. It could be that you require an updated driver for your graphics, or more RAM in your system or even other things.

Welcome to the forum, it would be hard for us to help you because w/o knowing knowing your system specs, we can't tell whether you do have a capable computer.

First thing I would try is to see if all my drivers are up to date... video, audio, board.

If you are using the drivers that came with your computer, chances are you are playing with old drivers (1 to 2 yrs old) and you are not taking advantage of all the new enhancements for the new games.

Also, if this game is a console port, it may be poorly optimized for the pc, hence, the suffering you are seeing but again, I think your problems are due to old or obsolete drivers.

P.S.: Dang it!!! I need a faster computer or faster finger to type :D

Hi dandadandan, welcome to the board.

Besides try as instructed above, please note that new games now a date are much more demanding plus a thousands dollar game rig then is much different from one today.

Programs like GPU-z and cpu-z should give you quite a bit of info.

The main question I have is what video card? If I am thinking correctly the highest options utilize DX10 therefore if you do not have a dx10 card then you won't be able to get them.

Ok dude, what year is your system from?
You must have an older system but you should know that if you want blazing fast & miraculous graphics you will have to dish out another couple thousand, yep. This is ain't no fairy tale with hardware dude.
