Having trouble installing iTunes + QuickTime

Hi,

I'm having trouble installing the latest version of iTunes + QuickTime. I got this error message: An error occurred during the installation of Assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

I have attached a screenshot of the error message.

I would appreciate any assistance in this matter to help me have the latest version of iTunes + QuickTime properly installed on my laptop. Thanks.

Welcome
That error code usually relates to hardware problems
try in safe mode
Check everything to make sure it is up to date, including BIOS, chipset drivers, firmware updates, etc.

· Download and install the following VC++ Redistributables in the following order: 2005; 2005 SP1; 2008; 2008 SP1, 2010

Web addresses:
1. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
2. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
3. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
4. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

Retry. That should solve the issue.

Thanks, I greatly appreciate the assistance in regards to troubleshooting and solving the installation problems. However, I have run into some issues while troubleshooting.

In response to richc46, I followed the article relating to install problems for your software and I was unable to complete the first troubleshooting procedure because I was unable to delete the Temp folder. It's under general installation troubleshooting.

In reply to Lorien, I got an error message while trying to install the first of the VC++ Redistributables: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86). I got this error message: Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.42",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86'". Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

I have attached a screenshot of the error message.

I would appreciate any further assistance in regards to these troubleshooting issues en route to successfully and properly installing the latest version of iTunes + QuickTime on my laptop. Thanks.

Hello!

All I will say now is that this error is frighteningly difficult to fix, and there is no specific fix. The first thing I need you to do is this:

Please try to install VC++ 2005, and then 2005 SP1. Please note down the approximate time and date you started the installation, so that I can find it more easily in your logs.

Right, please run steps 1, 2A, 3 (about 15 minutes), 4, and 5 from here:System Files - SFC Command

Once you have done that, copy C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload that zip file, and then tell me the rough installation time/date.

P.S. I will try my absolute best to fix this issue, but it is a very nasty error, and I really cannot guarantee anything.
