Having driver issues...please help:(

I got a virus awhile ago and decided to try and fix it myself....that's where I went wrong. so I talked to this guy at the store one day and told me it be best to format it and start over again. So I looked on the net to find specific instructions on how to do that. Everything was fine til I put in the driver disk that i got with my Inspiron 1545. Put the disk in followed the instructions and now I can't get a internet connection, it keeps telling me I need a network adapter. I have no idea how to fix it. I got on the Dell website and it said if you don't install the drivers in proper order, it won't work properly. So now until I can figure out what I'm doing wrong, I'm stuck with an over priced cd player. Somebody please help. Thanks.

Thank You all. This is solved. Tapping F8 at the LOGO (just like if you would want to see SAFE mode options), and then picking "Advanced Options", and there is an option to do a "Recover Install" or something along those lines. Older DELL have a Recovery Partion also, but to acsess those were by pressing F12 at the LOGO. This is solved. Thank You All.

Hope This Helps,
Josh

This is definately a project I should've tried to tackle myself so I appologize for sounding like an idiot ahead of time. Do you want me to recover everything and put the drives on a dvd then format again? Will that still work if I've formatted it 3 times?

Ok I tried the system restore on f2 and f12 and there was no advanced options for that in either place. Is there any way that I can download the drives from the good computer and put them on a flash drive to transfer them to the formatted one?

Sorry, I got tired of places like the geek spuad that know alot of people don't know how to do things and they don't try to give you any info on how to do it yourself. I mean I understand they have a job to do but I don't want to pay for a service I can do myself. So I found this website. How to format a computer and Reinstall Windows so I go on there and it gives very detailed instructions on how to do. I have all the reinstall disks that I got with my laptop. I started the format and out of all the steps that are listed on the how to, I only got to step 3 and the formatting part was all finished. It did'nt aske for a product key, it did'nt go to any of the other 13 steps the instructions said to do. It just did'nt ask for these things.

So the reinstallation dvd for windows vista does'nt tell me to do anything else, so I take it out and put in the drivers and utilities disk. The little window pops up for me to run, so I hit run. then up pops the window for all the applications and drivers i need to install. Check marks by some that tell a hardware scan has detected the presence of some of these devices, so I click on those. Click on extract to put the file in my computer so I can install. There is a help button and it tells me step by step which to install but the network driver when I extract, it tells me please insert disk #1 and click ok. I only have the one disk so I don't know what it means. Try to get on line so i can go to Dell.com and either figure out what I did or install what I need but I'mnot currently connected to any networks. Try to find a network but it's not sensing any networks. Not even the one I was on, it tells me I needs a network adapter.

So I thought there must have been something I did wrong with the format so I do that again. Did some searches on dell.com and found a how to download and install drivers in correct order. So I format again because I have installed some of the drivers and doubt they were in correct order. But still brings me back to my previous problem of the driver or drivers that I need to get on a network won't install. I read someone else on here that had the exact problem I'm having, same model of laptop I have and this guy told them to take a flash drive and download from a working computer the things they need and install hem that way. They replied that they fixed it and thanks for the input. So I sent a message asking what they did to fix theirs and the guy that was trying to help them sent me a message telling me to open up my own thread but why do I have to make my own thread when they had the same problem I had and I was just trying to ask what they did. So that's where I'm at right now. Sorry this is so long, I was retracing my steps to make sure I did'nt leave anything out.

Okay If you used the Factory install Disk from Dell you should not have to use the drivers disk as it should install all the applications and drivers and restore it as if you first turned it on.

As for Insert Disk #1 , if you only have one disk for it insert it. Sometimes the disk might be on 4 CD's rather than 1 DVD

Also what is the Bit rate of your computer? 32-Bit or 64-bit
