Halo 2

I have just purchased Halo 2 for Microsoft Windows Vista. It runs but there is one problem......It runs choppy when in a room with multiple people or a lot of "action". I have the graphics turned as low as possible and the screen resolution all the way down too.
One thing i did notice is that when running the game it only runs off one of my Intel Pentium Core 2 processors.

My questions is: Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is there a way to split the work load between both processors?

do you mean its only using one of your cores???? or are you using a mobo that is dual socket with 2 cpu packages?

ok so from what i can find it has to do with the actual programming of the game itself. there is not actual option you can check or enable to make the game level out and run on both cores. the only thing i can think of you may want to try is to set the affinity for other running processes to the unused core to try and give the other core some breathing room other than that im kinda stumped.....good luck though :)

p.s. i agree what kind of graphics card are you using?

i have a built in 3d buisness graphics card in my computer but i have newer games then halo 2 on there and they run off both cores and run really good so i don't think its the graphics card.

I will try to change the process and see if that helps. Thankx for all your help

Off the top of my head I would say turn off shadows if they are not off, that should make a huge difference.

i have already turned the graphics as low as they can go. all im asking is if anyone knows how to split the work to both cores

not possible, but my cpu is utilising only 1 core and it runs fine, mine is a Q6600, but i noticed that the mouse movements are quite choppy but i dont see this as a problem as i use a 360 pad for halo.

You might want to check your GPU- make sure it meets the minimum specs. Integrated cards will not perform very well no matter what you do.
Processor:2 Ghz Pentium 4 class processor (or x64)
RAM: 1 GB
Hard Drive:7 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA 6100, ATI X700, or above

you can go here to see if your card is class 2 or better (recommended), and dedicated. If your card is class 3 or lower- your SOL.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-of-Graphic-Cards.130.0.html
(note- if you have a desktop the classes are equivalent class, but performance my be slightly better)
