Interesting. But it's going to boil down to the ISPs offering different plans (as they already do) - however some of the plans will be these new offerings and they will probably be very expensive and I suspect will require special equipment (new lines running to the house, new modems and routers, perhaps even new adapter cards and software and drivers and who knows what).
Before I considered switching, I'd need to see the "new internet" in action and find out for myself if it's worth all the additional expense and hassle. But we may get questions here if it becomes real and goes live to any great degree, so please keep us informed if you hear any actual details.

I checked out the Daily Beast, great eye for the news and it comes down to the fat cat with the most money and power, but it would be very nice if we had two e-mails on the same grid so to speak. While I am here would one of you tell me how to send a private message to someone on the forum, I need to ask someone a question without the world looking at me.

There are several ways, but this one will always work without needing to find a post or a link for the user you're trying to message. Go to UserCP at the top of the page to get to your user profile page. On the left will be a list of items and one will be about private messages and one will say send a message. Click on that. Then in recipients, enter the username of the person you want to send the message to and then fill out the rest and send it.
If you do see a post or link to the person you want to PM, then click on it to open their profile page and under their name will be an option to Send Message. Click that and select Visitor or Private (if there is an option - private in your case), and you'll get to the page to send the message with the information for the recipient already completed.
Thats's all there is to it.

I noticed two conflicting statements regarding wired broadband connections versus wireless. What do you guys make of this?
This statement:
"First, the rules will apply to wired broadband connections, but they will pretty much leave wireless alone."
Versus, this statement:
"On wireless—which eventually will be the more important platform—that disparity will be even more evident. The rich will get great stuff. The poor will get, well, what the poor usually get, which is not much."
If the new rules won't apply to wireless connections, how will they be able to charge the additional fees for wireless connections????
