Garbled Audio

I have an issue that is driving me crazy. I got my new PC that has VISTA and for the most part it is good but the audio is strange. If my PC has been running for a few hours the sound on my media center starts to sound garbled. If I'm watching TV, DVD, or anything through media player it does this. Even if I'm not using the media player and turn it on after my computer being on for a bit it will be garbled. Rebooting fixes it each time but it is annoying to have to do that all the time. It is good for 4 hours or so at a time. I always have to reboot each morning or when I sit down to work. Any ideas on what is causing it and how I can fix it?
