Thanks everyone for enabling me to join such a great Forum!

As a retired guy, I spend a fair bit of time helping, or trying to, solve my friends computer problems. Most of my knowledge has been gained from online forums, such as this one. Gee! I wish I had found this Forum years ago! It is so extensive, well laid out, and covers far more than I could imagine.

I'm not accustomed to 'blogging' so you will have to bear with me for now, but together I hope we may be of benefit to each other!

David

Thanks for the welcome! I note from your credentials you have been around the site for quite a while, and congratulate you for contributing your time in helping others. I am gradually getting into Win 7, which seems the better OS.

As I explained I am unfamiliar with 'blogging' so perhaps you could steer me towards a section of the site where I may obtain info regarding the procedure for using different threads, or can I merely wander around and post requests on any of them?

Just browsed the FAQ. A great deal to read, but should put me on the right track. Again, many thanks.

Thanks for the welcome msg. I'm not into Win8 at present. Still learning Vista/Win7.
Weather? Depends which part of Aussie you live. Go north, it's pretty hot all year round. Down south it is very wet, floods etc, at present. Here, on east coast it's currently around 64°F with little or no rain!

I'm not sure why I chose this username, I haven't tried Win8 either!

It sounds beautiful, although in Canada we use Celsius and not Fahrenheit for temperature.
Today it was very hot, 34°C, but now its about 7-8pm and its still 29°C, but the sun is gone and has been replaced with a cool breeze.

Username is OK. What's in a name, anyway? Imagine you can chose to alter it - haven't read all the Forum Rules yet!

We also use Celsius, but as my sister lives in the USA I assumed Canada would too - hence my quote in Fahrenheit. We are fully metric (since 1966), kilograms, kilometres, dollars, etc.

Nah, us Canadians have everything backwards.

Yes, be careful with the forum rules, even the owner gave himself a infraction at one point.
