Freezing Up(ish)

My vista computer is having a bit of a problem. Anywhere between 2-5 minutes after the screen pops up, the computer freezes, but the mouse moves and the videos keep playing the sounds, but not the actual video. When I run the computer is running in safe mode, it won't freeze. I have run malwarebytes in this mode and found nothing, and avast won't even turn on. Even after doing a clean boot, I had to forcefully turn off the computer, and when the screen popped up, while it is not frozen, it won't run any programs, and task manager won't come up. Please help.

You have typical symptoms of a virus or malware. Can you run the anti virus in safe mode, if yes do so.
If it turns up negative. Run in clean boot to discover the problem.

I did. I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it can up with nothing. I can't run avast or even turn it on. Even after a clean boot, malwarebytes has stopped running.

Go back a week before the problem with system restore. Try it in safe mode

I don't have any restore points past yesterday, and even when tried to go back to that point, it says that it was corrupted.

Nope, safe mode is completely fine.

OK, The good news is pretty sure it is software. Make and model of your computer, please. Do you have stuff that you want to save. If yes, best to do it now if you can, try in safe mode

Okay, I won't be able to safely move everything wanted from the computer tonight (it was split between the family at one point). Assuming I finished saving eveerything wanted, what would be the next step?

I would try and reinstall. It might be the best option
