Free virus scans

Hi...i think I have malware...or something slowing down my cpu or I am wondering if it could be the DVD soft youtube to MP3 converter? I ask this because, I have malwarebytes and the scan comes up clean (and yes, its updated) I also have Macafee latest virus protection and that comes up clean too. But its really sluggish..I can type a whole sentence before my typing catches up to me on a screen its like its gets...stuck..then kicks in.

I cant afford to buy anything right now, my husband asked here on our military base if they have any free programs (sometimes they do) they only offered the Macafee that we already have. So I was wondering if anyone can recommend something online that is safe and works well for free?

Thanks in advance all :)

Ok I did the first clean sweep.....it seems to run great....I couldnt narrow it down to 1 thing...it seems to run the same (normal now) after re-boot...except there are soooo many things that want to delete from running and occuring at start up.....like VZW updater...tom tom updater...etc...I do not know how to disable them from the start up....??? When it had me disable all...it seemed to start up sooo quick..... Also....after each task it asked me to perform...it said it would ask me to "restart" and it never did...I just automatically re-started...... Richard...can I still send you a screen shot of the task manager? and if so how do I do that?

My Computer

Bring up task manager. Click on the tabs that I mentioned.
Then
Go to search and type snipping tool. Just follow instructions to send us a pic
Put back a few of the disabled items. When it begins to run slow, you know which one is the problem. I think that you are just using too much ram. Task manager will show us that.

ok...snipping tool...not working right....it only gets part of the things that are running....I cannot scroll down to copy all the processes that are running?

My Computer

I hate to sound stupid...but I "think" all the disabled items are running??? :(

OK one thing at a time. If you unticked the items during a clean boot, they did not boot during startup

You have to follow the instructions to find out which process is causing the problem. Follow the clean boot instructions. Put a few back at time. When it slows thats the problem

I did it exactly as they said...it never slowed...except when I was all done and went back to normal start up...then the start up took really long...what happens is....it will be fine for like a day or so...then...bam..its running sooooo slow....I type and the words don't appear ...like I mentioned in my original post...right now, its running fine...but by tomorrow I am sure it will be slow again.

I still do not know how to use the snipping tool..it wont copy everything...on what shows..I cannot scroll down..is there another way to copy this for you???

Its what I suspected. You are using too much memory. Either buy more ram. If you are 32 bit, you can only use up to 3 gb, so if thats what you have more ram will not help.
You can try to use less ram. click on show process from all users. then click on mmeory, to show the heavy users, post it.

Firefox is using too much. Try another browser and lets see what happens.

Thanks Rich...I have 64 bit..... Do you recommend any browsers? Or should I just use explorer?

I have another question...how come even if I do not open explorer it always seems to be running under the "memory" section of the processes, yet, Firefox isnt on there unless I actually open it?
