Font Size Increase/Decrease When Drag on Touchpad

I just got a new HP Pavilion computer x62 bit, and am having a slight, yet annoying issue. I am not sure if this is a Vista problem or a general problem, but whenever I drag my finger on the mouse touch pad a certain way, the font increases or decreases on the whole screen. This happens in all programs- internet, word, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem to set it at one font size?

I have an HP Pavillion also, (a dv5t) and don't have this problem, however, here are the touchpad customizations. Try re-setting them, and maybe that will help. (I've put in how I set mine. You, of course, will set yours however you prefer them). If this doesn't help, try the Font settings below the Mouse/Touchpad setings:

Right click: Desktop to open Personalize
Select: Mouse Pointers

Go to: Button configuration
Devices: Synaptics TouchPad V6..5 on PS/2 Port
Select: Right Handed
Double Click Speed: Set slider to slow - slowest ( if too fast, double clicks won’t open files)

Pointers:
Scheme: Windows Standard (extra large) system scheme
Customize: Select other symbols and icons i.e. busy symbol, etc.

Pointer Options:
Motion: Select a pointer speed: Put slider at the fastest point
(This technically controls the mouse buttons, but makes also touchpad feel faster.)

Check: Enhance pointer precision

Visibility: check: Hide pointer while typing

Device Settings:
Select: Settings
Double-click on each item in the tree, to show all customization options:

Double-click: Buttons
Left ButtonAction: Primary Click
Right Buton Action: Secondary Click

Double-click: Virtual Scrolling
Long Distance Scrolling
Check: Enable Edge Motion when scrolling
Scrolling Speed: Set at slowest

Scrolling selection: Scroll item under pointer

Double-click: Pointer Motion

Edge Motion: Perform Edge Motion when pointing and dragging
Check: Control speed with finger pressure
Edge Motion Speed: Medium slow

Double-click: Sensitivity

Palm Check: Put close to Minimum. (If mouse gets erratic, increase toward Maximum. If mouse is not responsive to certain clicks, decrease toward Minimum.)

Touch Sensitivity: Light Touch – all the way toward Light Touch

Re-boot to see the changes.

If, these settings don't work, check your computer's Font settings:

1. DPI - Right click on Desktop, Personalize, On Personalization Page, go to left column to: Adjust Font size – DPI, DPI Scaling: Click on Large scale (120 DPI), and click Apply.

2. At the lower right hand corner of every IE web page, there’s a Zoom control that lets you increase the size of every web page, and it stays at that Zoom setting for every page. I keep mine at 125%.

3. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Accessibility, Select Ignore font styles specified on web pages, check boxes and click OK, then Apply, then OK.

4. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck all three:
Reset text size to Medium for new windows and tabs, and
Reset text size to Medium while Zooming, and
Reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs

5. Open Internet Explorer, click the Page button, click Text Size, and then select the size you want i.e. Large (Largest may be too large).

6. Ease of Access Center – Go to: Control Panel, and Explore all settings. Under the following heading, Make things on the screen larger, select: Change the size of text + icons. This takes you to the dpi settings screen.

7. (For those folks who have a scroll wheel on your mouse, use command/ctrl + your scroll on a web page to increase the font size.)
